The Dike Point Recreation Area is a small hiking area provided
by Northeast Utilities on Lake Candlewood. It is located in southern New
Milford, Connecticut and provides one of the few public access areas to
Candlewood Lake - Most access to the lake is privately owned. The area offers
picnic areas and access for small boats as well as a 0.75 mile nature trail.
As this trail winds along the shores of the lake you can see foundations
from houses that existed before the area was flooded in the 1920's. The foliage pictures on this page were taken in mid-October, 2003. It should be noted that the park is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and the hours are 8:00am until 7:45pm. During the open season it is not regularly monitored and has been the site of several drownings in recent years. |

The collection of fall foliage pictures
shown on these pages were taken by me unless otherwise noted. Most shots
were taken in Litchfield County, Connecticut which is located in Central
and North Western Connecticut. During October, leafpeeping is my favorite
hobby as the trees change from green to red and yellow. |
